*rub hands* Its been a week and three days since the start of the Travel Race Program. We had a a race the 2nd day of the program, I wasn't over the moon with that. But it was a good indicator of what I have to work on.
Basics are weak, boat handling is lacking and needless to say, tactics.... What tactics? Having said that, it is their first race of the season and not having sailed for the last 10 months or so, and some even longer, their results are quite commendable and being able to hold out on their own out there adds the cherry on top of the pie.
We had two fourth place finishing in the Laser fleet, namely Andrew and Michael, we had a 1st place with all bullets in all his races, Jeff Markley, but that's only because he signed up for the wrong class... He did not know we got him a new radial sail the day before. In the opti fleet, we had Bryan in blue fleet who wasn't feeling all that well, a mild case of heat exhaustion, kudos to him for hanging out there and completing the race. Joshua in green fleet, who was just having a blast and was first off the starting line at the favoured pin end in the last race of the day!
